The first Funfly evening of the season saw Climb & Glide and Spot Landings as the first events, once the Red Kites and Flying Arrows set up in their respective areas of the pits. On show for the Flying Arrows were new signings Steve Martin and Rick Rowles.

With a strengthening team, the Flying Arrows fought a close competition, even with a couple of their star pilots away on international duties, but they could not stop the reigning champions from continuing where they left-off last season. The Red Kites took a 2-0 victory on the night, securing all 6 points to top the table.

The new on-site restaurant provided delicious food and the promise of jacket potatoes with a cheesy beans option will draw in the crowds. Well done to Lynn, our resident chef.

The second evening session saw the teams competing in Touch & Go and Bomb Drop. Models were flown in quick, tight circuits, carrying out as many touch & goes in a marked area during a 2-minute flight as possible. Then, in the Bomb Drop, a golf ball is dropped as close as possible to a target on the runway. A great evening saw the Flying Arrows pull level with the Red Kites.

Future events include Stall Turn relay, Roll and Loop challenge, Limbo, Coffee bean loop challenge and Figure of Eight’s.
